Hmm had a featured event and then the date passed yesterday and now the featured event is gone. While this might be the case because it is a "past" event, it also seems to prevent that any future event can be featured. I tried to feature future events and they show as "featured" on their event view page while they are not displayed on the index.
I think that maybe a condition that handles "past" events might have broken the functionality for future events.
