I implemented this and wonder what will happen at the end of a gifted yearly subscription. I suppose it will re-up itself because it's a PayPal renewable subscription.

Can givers cancel immediately to prevent having to pay perpetually? I'm pretty sure that the PayPal subscription cancelation rule is that PayPal will continue to provide the subscription period that has been paid for and then end it after the term. In other words, When you cancel a yearly PayPal subscription after one month, the subscription remains active for the remainder of the 12-month period you already paid for, rather than ending immediately. You will retain access for the 11 remaining months, but the subscription will not renew next year.

I don't know if this forum software overrides that rule, though.

Yeah, the add-on overrides that. If someone gifts an upgrade that normally auto-renews, they will only pay for the first term and once that's over, the upgrade expires.

I should make this behaviour clearer somewhere. :)
