Events already have structured data on them unless I'm missing something? Some minor improvements have been made in the next version.

You are right. I must've been testing an invalid page. I ran one of the events here, couple of warnings that maybe easy to address.

Use the Rich Result Test to see what Google results can be generated for your pages and the schema markup validator for generic schema validation.
