Hi NixFifty Team,
First of all, thank you for developing and maintaining the Tickets add-on. It has been a cornerstone for managing support on XenForo.
I would like to submit a feature suggestion regarding Ticket Creation Quotas / Rate Limiting per User Group.
Thank you for considering this request!
Best regards,
First of all, thank you for developing and maintaining the Tickets add-on. It has been a cornerstone for managing support on XenForo.
I would like to submit a feature suggestion regarding Ticket Creation Quotas / Rate Limiting per User Group.
Use Case & Motivation:
Many XenForo communities run tiered membership models (such as Free, Premium, VIP, or Enterprise packages) or provide product-specific support. In such environments, administrators often need to regulate support volume by allocating a fixed number of support tickets per billing cycle or timeframe:- Free/Standard members: allowed up to 2–3 tickets per month.
- VIP/Enterprise members: higher or unlimited tickets.
- Preventing individual users from overwhelming the staff queue with dozens of open tickets within a short timeframe.
Suggested Implementation:
- Permission / Option Settings:
- Add user group permissions (or Category-level permission overrides) such as:
- Max tickets allowed to open: [Integer value / Unlimited]
- Quota period: [Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Annually / Rolling period]
- Add user group permissions (or Category-level permission overrides) such as:
- Front-end / User Experience:
- If a user reaches their allocated quota for the period, disable the submission button or display a friendly error/notice (e.g., "You have used all of your support tickets for this month. Your quota will reset on [Date].").
- Optionally, show a small counter or widget on the user's ticket dashboard indicating their remaining quota (e.g., "Tickets remaining this month: 1 of 3").
- Administrative Overrides:
- A bypass permission (e.g., Bypass ticket creation limits) for staff, administrators, or special groups.
- Staff ability to open a ticket on behalf of a user even if that user has reached their quota.
Thank you for considering this request!
Best regards,
